Unique Design Traits

  • Saturation of the emerald is a striking green consistent with the finest emeralds from Brazil.
  • Classic emerald cut accentuates the satiny hue of the gemstone.
  • Report states emerald is subject to insignificant clarity enhancement which is considered very rare, as most emeralds are subjected to higher degrees of clarity enhancement.
  • The minor inclusions (‘jardin’) within the stone do not detract from the overall bright and transparent crystal.

Gemstone Details
Emerald is the bluish green to green variety of the mineral species beryl. The ancient Egyptians mined emeralds nearly 4,000 years ago, and Cleopatra was an avid collector. South America’s rich bounty of emeralds was discovered by 16th Century Spanish explorers who found large emeralds in the possession of the Aztecs and Incas. Believed by the ancients to empower the owner with foresight into the future, emerald is regarded as an amulet for good fortune. Today, most of the world’s emeralds are mined in Colombia, Brazil and Zambia. Other deposits have been found in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia and most recently, North Carolina. Emeralds can be cut in a variety of different shapes, ranging from the traditional rectangular step-cut, known as the “emerald cut,” to rounds, ovals, squares and cabochons. As the gem of spring, emerald is the perfect choice as the birthstone for the month of May. It’s also the gem of the 20th and 35th wedding anniversaries.
