Jewelry Care Tips from the Experts!

Cleaning Your Engagement Ring!

An engagement ring is more than just a piece of jewelry, it becomes a piece of you. The value that it holds is symbolic and beautiful, so we believe it is our duty to advise you on properly caring for your ring. At Emerson, we make our jewelry to the quality standard of lasting a lifetime, and then some, to become a cherished family heirloom piece. Caring for your ring is easy once you add it into your routine. As always, we would be more than willing to help if you bring your ring in!

There are only a few steps in cleaning and maintaining your ring:

Cleaning once a week at home, this is just a light cleaning to accommodate any buildup that occurs from working with your hands. Gardening, straightening up around the house, cooking, and other everyday tasks can cause a slow accumulation of debris inside the setting of the ring. This light cleaning can be as simple as non-abrasive soapy water or jewelry cleaner.

Then, every six months to a year we recommend getting your ring professionally cleaned in the store. We can steam clean, ultrasonic clean and polish your ring for you. When you purchase your engagement ring with us, we commit to a lifetime of service to keep your ring looking clean and shiny.

Remember to stay on top of checking your prongs, you don’t want to lose any stones while cleaning your ring, or in everyday life! When in doubt, bring it in so we can take a peek at them.

When purchasing a white gold ring, remember to come and get it rhodium plated when you feel it is getting dull or needs a bit of updating on its luster. The same for antique finishing, it needs to be touched up from time to time to keep the ring looking its best. Rhodium plating and antiquing can fade over time due to a variety of factors including how often hands are washed, sanitizer is applied or certain lotions.

If you have any questions, give us a call or stop into the store.
Even if you didn't purchase your ring here with us, we would be more than happy to assist you!

Have an amazing week!
